Film - Genova

This program is open to all undergraduate, graduate and non-traditional students. Participants will be mentored by professional Italian/American directors, cinematographers, production designers, sound recording specialists in the creation of a short film. The program in articulated with lectures and on-field experiences.


performing arts - montepulciano

Study music in Montepulciano, Tuscany.  A vibrant hilltop town adorned with charming squares, churches, picturesque countryside and views from every street. Montepulciano is a major producer of food and drinks including pecorino cheese, pici pasta and the world famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wine which is made only in the nearby area.

Film - Montepulciano (Winter)

Week-long program open to all undergraduate, graduate and non-traditional students. Participants will be mentored by University of Utah faculty in the creation of a short film. Students will gain firsthand experience by producing a short film in the Tuscan town of Montepulciano.

Henry James - Retracing His Footsteps in Italy

Travel to Italy to discover the sensuous and aesthetic world that Henry James explored and wrote about for decades, beginning in 1869 when he crossed the frontier from Switzerland into the Lake Como region. For him, this journey had “a delightful flavor of romance.” In 1909 James collected his travel writings in Italian Hours, which remains a delightful guide to the country and its art.We will see museums, monuments, squares, churches, and landscapes that the writer adored, but we will also spend time learning about the great Italian artists that he wrote about so eloquently.

Join Deborah Quinci, chef and food connoisseur, for a series of master classes on regional Italian cuisine.
